Investments aim at improving both the quantity and quality of water supply to established standards through
Improving information on existing networks;
Reducing unaccounted-for-water through leak detection, system rehabilitation and repair and reducing illegal connections;
System rationalization and optimisation, e.g. replacement of bunched connections;
providing of bulk and consumer meters and other system appurtenances; and where necessary;
Augmenting supplies and extending distribution networks. This would enable 83% coverage to be achieved by the end of the program period of 2016, with a majority of the households receiving potable quality water on a 24/7 basis. These investments will be accompanied by civic awareness campaign and capacity building to support WSS reforms for sustainable service delivery.
